In our globalization world English is the most popular and talked language around the world. But in writing we face two most popular spelling varieties named: American English and British English. Although in pronunciation there are similarities, some differences can be found spelling writing between American and British English. These differences are found mainly in vowel and consonants, as well as stress and intonation. And these differences are responsible for creating common spelling differences. Mainly Commonwealth countries follow British spelling.
Reasons for spelling differences between the same language
There are a lot of causes, but a key reason is because British English has tried for the most part to keep the spelling of the words it has borrowed from other countries. In British English, some words from French, Latin or Greek end with a consonant followed by an unstressed -re (pronounced /ə(r)/), where most of the words of modern American English have the ending -er.
